Gand Mool Nakshtra

Nakshatras ruled by Mercury & Ketu – Ashlesha, Mool, Revati, Magha, Jyesth and Ashwini are called Gand Mool Nakshatras. If the Natal Moon in the Horoscope of a child is in one of these Nakshatras the child is said to be born in Gand Mool Nakshatras.

According to Astrologers child born in these Nakshatras is inauspicious and faces various obstacles and problems in life therefore on 27th day of his birth, pooja should be preformed. Some are also of the view that the newly born child is inauspicious to the near relatives like maternal uncle, father, mother etc.
Few classic works have difference in views according to them – Mool, Jyeshth and Ashlesha are more inauspicious.

According to “Jyotish Tatwa” starting 5 hours of Aswini, Magha & Mool and ending 5 hours of Mool, Jyeshth & Ashlesha are called “Gand”.

Mool & Jyeshth in day time, Ashlesha and Magha in night time & Ashwini & Rewati give more in auspicious results. First part of Aswhwini, first two parts of Magha & last part of Revati are bad. In other parts of Nakshatras “no dosh” should be assumed.

Some are of the view that if the child is born in Gand Mool Nakshatras, it signifies death of cattle, bad by heart, bad for maternal uncle, bad for elder brother, bad for spouse, death of father and death of mother etc.
Why will these ill effects come into pass is not clear. These ill effects are not explained in the classicals and not even the astrologers know about it. Let us understand what this “Gand Mool Nashatras” are and whether it is good or bad auspicious or inauspicious if a child is born in these Nakshatras.

Six out of Twenty seven Nakshatras are Gand Mool Nakshatras. This implies 20% of the population of the world is inauspicious. Does this mean other 80% population is auspicious?

Of all these Nakshatras, Nakshatras ruled by Ketu; Ashwini, Magha & Mool and Nakshatras ruled by Mercury; Ashlesha, Jyeshth & Revati are considered to be inauspicious.

In other words when Moon is in these six Nakshatras at birth, the child is said to born in “Gand Mool Nakshatra”.

One Nakshatra remains for nearly 24 hours. Can it be believed that inauspicious children will be born in these 24 hours.

Now let us understand what are rules of the results of planet in astrology are given.
If a planet is a benefic good results are going to pass & its Dasa will give good results. Therefore, if in a Horoscope or for a Native, Mercury or Ketu are benefics & he/she is born in that Nakshastras these planets and their Dasas will give good results. It implies we can not generalise the statement that if a child is born in”Gand Mool Nakshatra” always bad results will come to pass. This means if planets are malefic bad results will come into pass. This is true for Nakshatras of Mercury and Ketu or Gand Mool Nakshatras. This implies that if lords of Gand Mool Nakshatras are malefics, bad results will follow from birth time and which would be true for other Planets too. That means Nakshatra of Jupiter can also be bad whereas that of Ketu good.

An infant born in Nakshatra of a Natural benefic say Jupiter may die whereas millions of children born in Gand Mool Nakshatra lead happy life from the child hood.

This concludes that Planets give good results when they are benefics & bad results when they are malefics. This theory also applies to “Gand Mool Nakshatras”.

Examples of people who were born in “Gand Mool Nakshatras” & rose to great heights in their life times.

Jawahar Lal Nehru was born in the Jyeshth, Nakhshatra & rose to become the P.M. of India.

Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was born in the “ Jyeshth” Nakhshatra.

Devanand was born in the Nakshatra, “Revati”. He rose to become a legend of Bombay Filmdom from an ordinary clerk.

Astrologers should stop cursing these Nakshatras after looking at the Horoscopes of Nehru, Gandhi and Devanand. Auspicious / Inauspicious words are comparitive words related to beliefs and not facts therefore they should not be considered in Astrology. No one should fall prey to “Pandits” when they say that newly born baby is inauspicious to parents or some other relative. Mind it that the child is born from the parents and not the parents take birth from child. How innocent children can be inauspicious to anyone in this world is beyond understanding!
